Organised by Bath Friends of Palestine.

From Egypt to Iran, from Syria to Yemen, the Middle East is once again in turmoil. Peter Oborne casts an expert eye over the region, and considers especially the implications for the Palestinians of Donald Trump’s new policy towards Israel and of Israel’s growing rapprochement with the Gulf States.

Peter Oborne is a distinguished journalist and pamphleteer who has reported extensively from the Middle East. He was chief political commentator of the Daily Telegraph from 2010 to 2015 and now writes weekly columns for the Daily Mail and Middle East Eye.

In 2009, he exposed the workings of the pro-Israel lobby in Britain for Channel 4’s Dispatches. In 2013, he co-wrote with David Morrison the book A Dangerous Delusion: Why the West is Wrong about Nuclear Iran.

He was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize in 2009, and was named columnist of the year at the Press Awards in 2012 and 2016.
